Third World America

Pine Ridge Native American Reservation is located in South Dakota. It is the size of Connecticut and home to an estimated 40,000 Native Americans. 

80% of the people living there are unemployed

49% of the population lives below poverty level and on less than 10,000 dollars a year

There are families that do not have running water, electricity, or telephones

The average life expectancy of women is 50 years for men it is only 47

Adolecent suicide is four times the national average

Infant mortality rate is five times the national average

This is Third World America

—> My Roger Williams University PR Campaigns class is implementing different campaigns. My group is making more students aware of the issues people in our own country face. This issue needs to be known.
